Phantasmagoria by Kenneth Vincent Walker

Phantasmagoria

The dimly lit stage has

Been so lavishly set as

Obscure shape-shifting

Images and frightening

Apparitions tend to slip

In and out and between

Nightmarish dreams of

Lucid unconsciousness.

A dream within a dream

Becomes reality when it

Makes you scream or so

It may seem as darkness,

A black cloud, descends

From the rafters, from the

Heavens, to the unwitting

Participants in their beds.

A kaleidoscope of terror,

Of night sweats, of horror,

Euphoria and hysteria all

Wrapped together within

A veil of phantasmagoria.
